Rooted in Truth

The Firm Foundation...

Growing up in church, I always knew God was with me. It wasn't until I got older, though, that I realized how much I actually needed Him—not just for eternity's sake, but for the day-to-day, not only for life everlasting but for life in general. Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice for me—He laid down His life so that we may be free from sin and death, and that has meaning past making it into Heaven. I always believed that, and I still do. But it wasn't until I truly felt it that I ever knew I could have a personal relationship with Him. I believed in Him, but I didn't know Him. I knew the stories, but I didn't grasp their meaning.

Before I truly knew God, His Word was always "easier said than done," but with God, wisdom comes. Love is easy, and love becomes your foundation for God is love.

Faith is a living, breathing thing that gives life purpose and love meaning. Faith is where Peace is found.

The Mission

Rooted in Truth. Soaring in Purpose.

Rooted Eagle is my outlet for all things creative, giving life and meaning to my hobbies while also allowing me to spread the Word of God by helping others. Not only am I dedicated to representing the Lord through my work and life, it is my mission to give other small businesses a jumpstart on their branding and potential. In a world where corporate machines dominate the social and digital sphere, it takes someone with knowledge and the willingness to help for small businesses to stand a chance.

My clients are not projects, they are people—with lives and missions of their own, doing what they can to grow! I strive to not simply finish the job but to give insight and knowledge where I can. My goal is not to have clients for life (although I don't mind if you stick around)—it is to enable businesses to take control of their brand and purpose with confidence!

Why the Eagle?

Have you ever seen Hacksaw Ridge?

There are times when you feel weak and powerless—hopeless even, but hope is never gone. When the movie Hacksaw Ridge came out, I immediately recognized the opening lines as part of Isaiah 40, a reminder of human frailty and God's strength. Desmond Doss's story is one of faith, strength, and insurmountable odds. It was not his, but God's strength in him, that kept him moving forward. Isaiah 40:31: "Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

It was the first time I heard these verses and realized how much patience and endurance faith requires—and how normal that struggle is. "Waiting" has been a commonplace theme in my life, as it is for most people, but I depend only on God for the day my roots become wings, and He is faithful in His promises.

It is my sincere hope to help and encourage others to endure the journey—to meet God where they are, no matter what that looks like—and to believe in themselves, their ideas, their passions, and their talents. When meeting your God-given goals requires help, ask and you shall receive!

About Me

My Name is Mary Kathryn...

I grew up on a blueberry farm in small town Georgia where I learned to appreciate the little things and the little moments. God comes first, and family comes second. It was there that I discovered my passion and talent for design and marketing. As I struggled to find myself and my confidence, my community of family, friends, and teachers constantly encouraged and believed in me.

After I graduated high school, I attended Mercer University where I studied Marketing and Human Resources, graduating in 2021 and earning my MBA in 2022. This was a Hard Fought Hallelujah for me as I battled depression, self-isolation, and major burnout. I felt alone in every way even when I wasn't. Maintaining my beliefs during this time was one of the most difficult things I have ever done, but Jesus was always there to listen. It was on my knees, crying, where God met me in my weakness and molded me into the woman I am today. It was a trial by fire—perhaps not as hot as others, but painful nonetheless.

God had to break who I was in order to put me back together into who I was meant to be. I am learning and growing daily and strive to help others do the same.

Continuing the Legacy

My grandfather, John Wayne Brashears, used to carefully craft butterfly, flower, and Americana artwork in his wood burnings—turning many into magnets, plaques, and even large scale carvings. When he passed in 2024, my brother and I both set out to learn how to continue his tradition.

Being a missionary, pastor, and active church member throughout his life, my grandfather taught me how to love the Lord, seek His guidance, and marvel at His creation.

With my marketing and design background, it seemed only obvious to continue my Pa's legacy of creativity and spreading the Word of God when I felt the call to start my own business and share the gifts I've been given by the One who created me. Ephesians 2:8: "For by Grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God." Heaven awaits all those who believe—purchased by the blood of Jesus for the forgiveness of sin.

Beauty in the Simple

My grandmother, Emily Katherine W. Stewart, was my next door neighbor for nearly 21 years of my life. She found beauty and joy in the most simple aspects of life—clouds, butterflies, flowers. Grandmommy held a quiet and gentle strength within her, kind but tough—graceful but sturdy.

Oftentimes, when I sat alone with her or walked outside to pick blueberries, we'd point out the shapes in the clouds to each other and laugh at the "dancing" butterflies. She'd pause to hear the birds sing and watch the leaves in the wind.

She taught me to appreciate the beauty in the simple, so that is what Rooted Eagle will remain! Philippians 1:21: "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain." The world remains beautiful even when life does not, and the beauty that surround us is our daily reminder of God's love and His promise to us.

"May we be sustained by the belief that what we have truly loved, we shall never really lose."

My Hobby

You may be wondering why a design company is also selling wood burnings...It's simple! Design is my passion, faith is my purpose, this is my hobby! And even though I'd love to give each piece a home on my wall as they come from the heart and take quite a bit of time, that's just not reasonable. So here they are to spread the Word of God to other people who will give them a happy place to live!

This was the first piece I ever made! For this one, I used my late grandfather's tools and a piece of wood from one of the last trees he cut before passing. The majority of pieces I have done are, in part, due to his effort up front!

The Little Things

Reminder of Peace...

Isaiah 43:2-4: "When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up...Others were given in exchange for you. I traded their lives for yours because you are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you."

Few people talk about how difficult it is to follow the Lord, and even fewer talk about how lonely it is to do so. In John 15:18, Jesus says, "If the world hates you, remember that it hated Me first." Hate comes in many forms and not always by name—a person doesn't have to hate you to not love you. Through the loss of friends and family, singleness, stereotyping, and endless incorrect assumptions, remember the birds. Matthew 10:31: "You are of more value than many sparrows." The God who created this beauty created you!
